Music industry shindig South by Southwest has announced four new artists to be interviewed on stage as part of the conference.
Country legend Emmylou Harris will be interviewed about her career, which includes work as a session vocalist as well as a succession of hugely successful hits including 'Even Cowgirls Get The Blues'. Her interview will include an acoustic performance.Former Talking Heads front man, label owner and genre-defying mind-messer David Byrne will give a presentation entitled "Record Labels : Who Needs Them?" David Whitehead, Byrne's manager will also speak during this presentation.
Brazilian Tropicalia musician Gilberto Gil will appear as well, having pioneered the Tropicalia musical movement of the 60s and spent time in exile for speaking out against Brazil's then-dictatorship. He is currently the Minister for Culture in Brazil.
Terry McBride, founder of Nettwerk will speak about the music industry and how it is relevant in the digital age.
These presentations are added to already announced presentations from Ricki-Lee Jones and soul legend Booker T.
The festival and conference will take place in Austin, TX from the 14th - 18th of March, 2007.
