Warner Music has officially announced the departure of Australia`s CEO and President Ed St. John from the company.

St John started in the business as a journalist for Rolling Stone in the 70s and rose to the top position at Warner Music Australia in January 2005.

An official statement from Lachie Rutherford, President of Warner Music Asia Pacific reads, "Ed St John is stepping down as President and CEO in order to explore new opportunities outside the company".

"We thank Ed for all his hard work in helping to steer Warner Music Australia through a challenging period of transformation. He has worked with some of the biggest names in music - both Australian and International - and his knowledge and experience of the business has been a great asset. We wish him well in his future endeavours."

Ed is also chairman of ARIA, the Australia Record Industry Association. There is no word from ARIA at this point if his departure from Warner will affect his ARIA position.

Finance director Mark Narborough, marketing director Mark Ashbridge and promotions VP Billy MacLeod will run the company until a formal replacement is made.
