Australia's home of country music, Tamworth, winds up their annual festival with the 35th Country Music Awards Of Australia.
Arguably the longest-running music festival in Australia, the Tamworth Country Music Festival began as a talent quest in 1968 and has had folk kickin' up dust annually ever since. First held over the Australia Day Weekend, it now extends from January 19 to 28.Taking over the whole town, the festival will feature the shining lights of Australia's long tradition of bush music. In 2007 performers include: Steve Eales, Drew McAlister, Stephen Rowe, Tania Kernaghan, Lee Forster, El Rancho Deluxe, Red Hot Poker Dots, and scores more.
On the penultimate day of the festival, the Country Music Association of Australia host their Country Music Awards. Held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre on January 27, the event will feature performances from finalists Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole, Melinda Schneider, Adam Brand, and Felicity Urquhart, all vying for the coveted Golden Guitar awards.
More performers will be announced and tickets to the gala event can be purchased from the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre, so get your boots on!
