Winner of nine Golden Guitar awards and twice voted Entertainer of the Year by the country music industry, Beccy Cole reveals her sexuality on ABC's Australian Story tonight.
Cole was inspired to articulate her sexuality publicly in wanting to set an example for her thirteen year old son Rikki, stating "that to be yourself is the most important thing in the world." Speaking to Australian Story Beccy commented " It's definitely uncomfortable if you've got a big part of yourself, if such an important part of yourself is a secret and kept inside, In the darkness of an evening, sometimes that has been a difficult thing for me to cope with over the years."
News.com reports that Cole came to the realisation she was gay when she split with her musician husband Mike Albeck when Rikki was six-months-old. The pair have remained good friends and Albeck will appear alongside Coles best friend Kasey Chambers when the Australian Story episode airs on ABC tonight at 8pm.
