Math-rock heroes My Disco announce a new album on the horizon.
The revered Melbourne masters of rhythmic minimalism have been quiet for some time but now announce their third album Little Joy.It's the first full-length since their 2008's stunning Paradise, produced by noise legend Steve Albini.
They began recording their third album with Albini again before changing direction.
They returned from Chicago to work with Sydney mixer Scott Horscroft, who worked with Silverchair and The Presets and who helmed their 'Young' 12-inch from earlier this year.
Guitarist Ben Andrews thinks Horscroft and Albini's differing styles complemented the band well.
"These are things we have never achieved on record before," he said, "It's nice to have both elements, Steve's rawness meets Scott's subtle production."
After hearing a taste of the album in the track 'Turn', we can only agree that a psychedelic element only makes My Disco more vexing and fascinating.
Little Joy will be released on October 15 through Shock.
