Melbourne’s notoriously noisy Primitive Calculators are gearing up to release their first LP release ever, and their first release in thirty years.
The band released several singles and various tracks on compilations, but the band had never made it through to a full record.Now, over thirty years since their inception, the band are relishing in their popularity (no doubt helped by the reissue of Dogs in Space last year) and have begun rehearsing for a new record, although there is no word on when we'll actually see it come to be.
"Whilst we're not a real band, we do believe, with all the true humility that the statement entails, that we are the greatest rock and roll band of all time," front man Stuart Grant said in an interview with Mess and Noise.
"Having accidentally begun playing again against our better judgment, we find ourselves compelled to continue through the impetus of the force of a destiny beyond our control. We have no choice. We don't understand. Whatever it is that is driving us, it is plunging us down to greater depths of nihilism and pointlessness."
The band will play one live show this year at Yah Yah's in Melbourne on Friday, September 3.
