Hip hop duo N.A.S.A. have done a quirky cover of Max Romeo’s legendary ska track ‘I Chase The Devil’ for Dr. Martens.
The duo filtered the tune through an autotuner and their own unique filter of Brazilian inspired hip hop and funk resulting in a pretty cool mash up of genres. The video is directed by Don Letts (Musical Youth, The Pretenders, Elvis Costello, The Clash) and features a bizarre dreadlocked character travelling through some kind of bizarre "outer space" that is reminiscent of the 1987 movie 'Inner Space'.
The whole point of the exercise is to celebrate 50 years of Dr. Martens boots, which were synonymous with the ska and punk movements of the 70s.
Other artists that have paid tribute to the shoe are Black Rebel Motorcycle Club ('Dirty Old Town' by The Pogues) and The Duke Spirit ('If The Kids Are United' by Sham 69).
