Gorillaz celebrate their Damascus performance by bringing in The Clash, De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Happy Mondays and more.
It was a massive performance in the cradle of civilisation, Damascus in Syria. But Damon Albarn's cartoon supergroup was surprisingly humanistic at the show.
They brought out the legends: Bobby Womack, De La Soul, The Clash's Paul Simonon and Mick Jones, the Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder, the Pharcyde's Bootie Brown, UK rappers Bashy and Kano, local Syrian artist Eslam Jawaad and Syria's National Orchestra.
The all-star jam happened at Syria's almost-1000-year old Citadel Of Damascus.
Syria holds a special place in Albarn's heart. He recorded parts of Plastic Beach there last year.
The concert was recorded by NPR and is streaming on the music section of their site.
