U2's new video was partly shot at Richmond's legendary Corner Hotel but features more Elvis than the venue.
The music video is for 'Windows In The Skies', the new track on their recent singles compilation 'U218 Singles', which has already sold triple platinum in Australia and sits at third on the final ARIA chart for 2006.Melbourne broadsheet The Age reports that while Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr appeared at the cult venue while they toured through Australia in November, very little of the pub appears in the clip.
In fact, hardly any footage of the band appears either. It consists mostly of archival footage of musical legends performing and synched up to the song, including: Beck, Bob Marley, Louis Armstrong, David Bowie, Nat King Cole, The Clash, Public Enemy, The Ramones, Marvin Gaye, Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Iggy Pop, Elvis, Jay-Z, Morrissey, Elton John and scores more.
So the hundreds of extras and the venue were mostly superfluous to the blinding star power of the performers cut into the footage. The clip can be viewed right now on the band's dot com.
