Renowned director Spike Lee will direct an authorised film biography of the late soul great James Brown.
Paramount Pictures confirmed the project on Wednesday, with spokeswoman Nancy Kirkpatrick explaining, "It's an authorized biography done with the cooperation of Mr. Brown before his passing."The film will be produced by Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment. Grazer told Variety magazine, "Having known him well, and after spending lots of time with him and researching his life, it's somehow not surprising that he died on Christmas Day. He was the ultimate showman, all the way to the end."
Lee will rewrite the script, which has already been through several drafts. Other scriptwriters include Jezz and John Henry Butterworth and Steve Baigelman.
