Director Oren Moverman has spoken to the Guardian about his forthcoming Kurt Cobain biopic.
He insisted that the film would be far from a typical Hollywood story, delving further into Cobain's life than the mere factoids.Moverman spoke to Ryan Gilbey, the film writer for UK newspaper The Guardian, for a broader article about biopics.
"People know the shortcut version - he took a lot of heroin, wrote 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' became the biggest rock star in the world and killed himself," he said, "Those known things about him are to me the least interesting."
"It'll be raw and chaotic," he said, "which is what Cobain's life was like."
The Israeli director was nominated for an Oscar for his unconventional take on Bob Dylan's life, I'm Not There.
He said that the as-yet-untitled film will be more linear than I'm Not There, "it'll take you from A to Z."
The film is partly based on the 2002 biography of Cobain called Heavier Than Heaven.
Gus Van Sant produced a film in 2005 called Last Days, which fictionalised Cobain's suicide.
