Kings of Leon have been hitting the road trying out new material, at the behest of their record label.
Word on the street is that some record company bosses are preventing the band from playing too much of their new record on the road to prevent the tracks appearing on YouTube, but the band are doing it anyway."We didn't want to go back out there and give 'em the Only By the Night tour, part two," Caleb Followill said in a press conference. "Not only are you testing the songs out on the crowd, but we have that, 'Oh, shit!' moment when we're looking at each other. 'Are they gonna like this? Are they gonna sit down because it's not 'Use Somebody?'"
NME reports that the four songs the band were playing were tentatively titled 'Immortals', 'Mary', 'Radioactive' and 'Southbound'. A YouTube clip of the band's performance of the song had been removed due to a copyright claim by Vector Management.
Aiming for a rootsier sound, the band have picked up a slew of different instruments including the fiddle and lap steel as well as trumpet expecting to make an appearance on the new record. The band recorded once again with producer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Modest Mouse), but as of yet there is no date set for release.
