Clever singer songwriter Josh Pyke returns from the UK with news of his debut album.
The Sydney chronicler of suburban fables has managed to capture the hearts of many with songs like 'Middle Of The Hill', from a succession of short releases (varying from the October's three-track single 'Memories & Dust' to 2005's eight-song mini-album collection 'Recordings 2003-2005').After UK jaunts with The Walkmen in September and New Yorker Ben Kweller in November, Pyke scored a deal in the motherland for his forthcoming debut full-length. He has signed with Island/Universal in the UK but the album will be released in Australia on Ivy League, who released his last two EPs.
On 'Feeding The Wolves', Pyke recorded with Wayne Connolly (who has worked with You Am I, Youth Group and Underground Lovers) and has also worked with Chris Joannou of Silverchair. No word yet on who he will enlist for the debut but it will be named 'Memories & Dust' for his latest single and is slated for a March 2007 release.
Pyke will also be touring in the New Year, playing winery shows in South Australia and New South Wales in late-January before an East Coast February tour.
