John Lydon receives hate mail over forthcoming PiL reunion show in Tel Aviv.
Elvis Costello, the Pixies and Gil Scott-Heron have all boycotted Israel over recent treatment of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip but Lydon will forge on.Lydon told BBC6, "Of course, there are all sorts of terrible politics going on down there but there is just about all over the world. You cannot separate yourself from your audience because of the political powers-that-be."
Regardless, Lydon reiterates that he remains an anarchist no matter where he goes. He said, "I'm anti-government ? I have been all my life no matter where I go ? and I shall be making that loud and clearly proud once I'm in Israel."
He admitted that he's received a lot of hate mail about the decision to play in Tel Aviv but confirms he is going there "to cause trouble and I will do it musically."
He also recently told NME that the only way PiL was able to reform was the money he made shilling Country Life butter in an advertising campaign.
The profits from the campaign are being ploughed into new PiL recordings.
