Ken Brown of The Quarrymen, a band that eventually morphed into The Beatles, has died at age 70.
Brown passed away at his home on June 9, 2010 after a long battle with emphysema.Brown started his career as a member of the Les Stewart Quartet where he played guitar alongside George Harrison. After band leader Les Stewart refused to go through with a planned residency, Brown and Harrison called upon fellow local boys John Lennon and Paul McCartney to fill the vacated gig as The Quarrymen (named after the school they all attended).
The band played seven Saturday night performances, but Brown broke his leg during the last performance and could not play. Eventually an argument ensued and Brown was kicked out of the band.
Brown was working on his autobiography entitled 'Some Other Guy' at the time of his death.
