Crispian St. Peters, the Britpop star of the 60s, has died in England at the age of 71.
St. Peters, born Robin Peter Smith on April 5, 1939, is best known worldwide for his one major hit 'The Pied Piper'.In the UK, St. Peters also had a Top 10 hit with 'You Were On My Mind' in 1966.
'The Pied Piper' was a Top 10 hit in the UK, USA and Australia in 1966 but St. Peters never repeated its success.
His fame was his worst enemy. He lost credibility when he announced he was going to be bigger than Elvis and that he was more exciting than Tom Jones.
Crispian St. Peters had not been well for the past 15 years. In 1995, at the age of 56, he suffered a stroke. He was also hospitalised several times for pneumonia since 2003.
He had two children, a daughter Samantha and son Lee from his marriage during 1969 from 1974.
