Guru, the 43-year old rapper from Gang Starr, has lost his battle with cancer.
The New York MC has been in a coma for a while. The official statement reads “Guru has passed away yesterday morning (April 19) after a long battle with cancer”.Guru was born Keith Elam on July 17, 1966. He suffered a cardiac arrest on February 28, 2010. He performed in Gang Starr with DJ Premier.
Their song ‘Jazz Thing’ featured in Spike Lee’s ‘Mo Better Blues’.
His first solo album “Jazzmatazz Vol 1” was released in 1993. He also starred in the movie ‘Grand Theft Auto’ as 8-Ball.
