James Bond will not be saving the planet again anytime soon. The 23rd James Bond movie has been put on a indefinite hold.
The still untitled movie was due to go into production for a release as early as next year but producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson have stalled production because of the uncertainty of the MGM movie studios."Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on BOND 23 indefinitely," they said in a joint statement today.
MGM is up for sale but is falling short of their asking price of $2 billion. Time Warner Inc offered $1.5 billion for MGM in March.
If MGM isn’t sold soon it may file for backruptcy.
The last Bond movie was the two part ‘Casino Royale’ (2006) and ‘Quantum of Solace’ (2008).
Writers started work on Bond 23 in early 2009 and will take place after ‘Quantum of Solace’. Daniel Craig will once again appear as James Bond. He was contracted for four Bond movies. This will be his third.
