Carney will relocate to New York following frontman Reeve Carney scoring the role of Peter Perfect in the U2 Broadway production of Spider Man.
“Julie Taymor is directing it, she directed The Lion King,” Reeve tells Undercover.com.au. “We were playing a gig with Carney and she came to see us play and asked me to audition for her film The Tempest which I ended up getting as well. After that she decided that I might be right for the part in Spider Man so I got to sing for Bono and The Edge and they gave me the job”.For Reeve, auditioning in front of the U2 guys made for an interesting day. “It tends to step me up another notch when I around people like that,” he says. “I tend to get a little nervous but good nervous. It was actually really exciting singing for Bono and The Edge. They took a liking to what I do and then a liking to what our band does so they will be in the band in the show too”.
The band will relocate from Los Angeles to New York later this year when the production gets underway.
Meanwhile, the debut album from Carney ‘Mr Green Volume 1’ was released in Australia last week and is very much worthy of a listen. The guys in the band were very much influenced by Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Beatles and Radiohead. ‘Testify’, the last track on the album is a much listen to song.
