Green Day fans will not be giving fans a self-indulgent soap opera on their next album. They say they are going back to basics.
Green Day hit up fans with the two concept albums ‘American Idiot’ and ’21st Century Breakdown’ last time around. Next time it will be about individual songs.In a recent interview Billie Joe Armstrong said, “We set up all of our equipment from 1992, and we sat in a room. We got in, and I was like, 'Come on, guys, we're getting back in”.
The band is currently working on the songs for the next record but has yet to hit the studio to lay them down. "It's still really early. We've got to start translating the songs and explaining the songs, and the next step will be arguing about the songs."
It may be released before the end of this year but they way they are going this could be a 2011 release.
