The Libertines are planning a couple of U.K. shows at the Reading and Leeds festivals this year with both Pete Doherty and Carl Barat in the band.
The reports come from U.K. newspaper The Guardian, who reported that the band will be receiving “around £1.5million” for the performance. In a 2004 interview I did with Libertines bassist John Hassall said Doherty was welcome back in the band if he cleaned up. It never came to fruition though as the relationship between songwriters Doherty and Barat soured during their separation.
In the meantime, both Doherty and Barat had success with their own bands Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things respectively.
It will be the first time the two prolific songwriters have played together in almost six years and the band will surely cause a flurry of devoted fans flocking to the festivals to get a glimpse of the indie legends reunited.
