The Libertines are finished. Carl Barat signalled the end of the band of singer Pete Doherty failed to show up for the premiere of their documentary in London on Wednesday.
“This closes a chapter for me,” he told Kim Dawson from The Daily Star. “I’ve got a solo EP out now and I don’t feel I have to force any reunions”.
Barat was joined at the premiere of ‘There Are No Innocent Bystanders’ by other members of The Libertines Gary Powell and John Hassall. Doherty was meant to be there too. He failed to front.
The Libertines were together between 1997 and 2004 and reformed last year.
According to Dawson, a new album from the band is now unlikely to happen.
