Reprise Records is set to re-release two of Green Day's earliest recordings, '1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours' and 'Kerplunk!'.
Both were originally released on Lookout! Records, and acted as the springboard for the band's chart domination in the 1990s and beyond. The 19-track '1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours' is a collection of tunes from Green Day's first album - 1990's '39/Smooth' - as well as tidbits from various early EPs. 'Kerplunk!' was the first album to feature drummer Tr?? Cool, and has since become one of the highest-selling indie records of all time.
Reprise - the label which helped launch Green Day's commercial career via 1994's 'Dookie' record - will release the two records in the US on January 9 next year.
