Chairman Jeanne Pratt and General Manager Ken Mackenzie-Forbes revealed the 2010 productions from The Production Company today (March 9, 2010) in Melbourne.

The line-up this year includes the return of Todd McKenney in The Boy From Oz, Chelsea Gibb, Juan Jackson and Silvie Paladino in The King & I and Mitchell Butel, Matt Hetherington and Christie Whelan in Sugar (based on the film Some Like It Hot).

The Production Company is celebrating its 12th year in 2010.

“Our three shows this year comprise an Australia premiere, Sugar, an all Australian musical, The Boy From Oz, and one o the greatest classics from the Broadway stage, Rogers & Hammerstein’s The King And I,” Mrs Pratt said in a statement.

Todd McKenney played Peter Allen in the original production of The Boy From Oz. John Foreman will be musical director on the show.

“I always wanted to stage The King and I for you,” Jeanne said. The musical director for this production will be Peter Casey.

Sugar is one of the great Broadway comedies. It will conclude the 2010 season.

The King and I will open on July 14 in the State Theatre at The Arts Center in Melbourne.
