Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse has taken his life.
Linkous formed Sparklehorse in Richmond, Virginia in 1995. The first album ‘Vivadixiesurbmarinetransmissionplot’ was a minor hit that year.Even then it was obvious Linkous had problems. A year later he overdosed in a London hotel.
The 1998 album ‘Good Morning Spider’ was about Linkous’s near death experience.
The last album from Sparklehorse was the unreleased but heavily downloaded ‘Dark Night Of the Soul’ in 2009.
Linkous committed suicide on Saturday, March 6th, 2010.
