Johnny Cash has the highest debut of the week on the US chart this week.
The posthumous ‘American VI: Ain’t No Grave’ has entered the American chart at number three with more than 51,000 sales.‘Ain’t No Grave’ features songs recorded during Cash’s last sessions four months before his death in 2003.
He was in poor health when he recorded the record. His wife June had just died when he began recording.
The album features more interesting song choices including Kris Kristofferson’s ‘For The Good Times’, Sheryl Crow’s ‘Redemption Day’ and older evergreens such as ‘Cool Water’ and ‘A Satisfied Mind’.
Cash started recording for Rick Rubin’s American Recordings label in 1994.
‘Ain’t No Grave’ was released on February 26. It would have been Cash’s 78th birthday.
