The music industry is preparing for a worse case scenario with news on the condition of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
The 83 year old industry legend has been in a coma in New York since October 29 after falling and injuring his head at a Rolling Stones concert at the Beacon Theater.Ertegun's doctor Howard Riina announced yesterday that Ertegun has a "severe brain injury" and that he is "in a deep coma".
Ertegun was portrayed by actor Curtis Armstrong in the 2004 movie 'Ray' about the life of Ray Charles.
Armet founded Atlantic Records in 1947 with partner Herb Abramson. He went on to discover and nurture the early careers of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Dizzy Gillespie as well as rock legends Led Zeppelin and Bad Company. He also signed the Rolling Stones to Atlantic in the 70s.
The October 29 Rolling Stones show at the Beacon Theater was for Bill Clinton's 60th birthday.
