After becoming new wave rock's flagbearers with their 2004 debut ‘Hot Fuss', The Killers will return with their sophomore effort in September this year.
The Las Vegas four-piece wowed the world with the melodramatic disco rock in 2004, scoring number one chart positions in the UK and Australia, selling triple Platinum in the US and earning five Grammy nominations for the ‘Hot Fuss' album and singles ‘Somebody Told Me', ‘Mr. Brightside' and ‘All These Things That I've Done'. They swiftly became the leaders of the synth-rock revival.Big things will be expected for the so far untitled sophomore album, which will be released on September 30. It was recorded in their hometown with British producers Flood and Moulder, who are best known for their work on Smashing Pumpkins' overblown concept album “Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness'. The lead single, ‘When We Were Young', will be released in July.
Otherwise, the album is a mystery - a download from Island Records only offers a dreamy lounge reprise of ‘Somebody Told Me', and by the look of their new press photos, the band have dropped their modern dandy look for a more scruffy retro rock façade.
