Rammstein - Liebe Ist F??r Alle Da

A decade ago when I was a little younger and a little angrier, you could not keep me away from my Rammstein CDs.

Now as we near the end of the first decade of the 21st century, I don’t listen to Rammstein like I used to, but I still had a tiny quiver of excitement when I saw this CD in front of me.

When the first track began with a wispy intro I wondered for a second if they had gone all soft before the sledgehammer of a riff pushes the speakers to their limits topped off with singer Til Lindemann’s brutal throaty call of “RAMM-STEIN”.

Ok, so maybe I do still have a soft spot for this band, but now I can appreciate the ridiculousness of them. The erotic gore that adorns the covers is almost comical and the uncensored version of the video that accompanies the track ‘Pussy’ is so absurd all you can do is laugh; or call your local talkback radio to complain if you’re so inclined.

The track ‘Pussy’ sees the band bounce between German and English lyrics - something they have tried for special releases before and managed to sound ridiculous and something they still manage to sound ridiculous with this time around. “You have a pussy, I have a dickah (seriously, dickah), so what’s the problem? Let’s do it quick!”

I can mock these guys all day and all night, but like most people in their mid-to-late twenties these thunderous guitars, throaty German vocals and blatant attempts to offend the masses are just a little bit awesome.

I probably wouldn’t rush out and buy this album anymore, but if I were 17 again this would be my favourite record in the world.
