E.P REVIEW - THE DELTA RIGGS - TALUPO MOUNTAIN MUSIC VOL.II

Thank you to sweet baby Jeebus for sending me this E.P. Straight up rock & roll, big guitars, acid vocals from too many goodtimes, thumpin' kick out the jams rhythm section and like all rock & roll that stands the test of time, sexy as hell.

Talupo Mountain Music Vol II, showcases the best of a rock and roll band with the chops to channel the greats such as The Faces and bang out soulful rocking blues coloured with caramel flavoured gospel without a hint of some of the wanky tripe getting round dressed up as rock & roll these days. This is rock & roll. It comes from Melbourne, though they sound like they could have been raised in the Mississippi Delta.

Before I continue I need to jump up and down and clap my hands together for guest vocalists on this E.P, Ebony King and Kathleen "Snowy" Snuball. Talks about the icing on the cake, these gals contribute nothing but goodness and shakin' action with their delicious hussy vocals. And versatile? You betcha.

"Counter Revolution" is unleashed upon your ears with an infectious bass riff, quickly followed by guitars that put a smile straight on your dial. The catchy riff doesn't stop all song long and as in all good songwriting can be manipulated to work for verse, middle eight and chorus without ever sounding stale. Elliot Hammond on drum and lead vocal duties proves once and for all that a great drummer can do everything. Where do these drummers come from? I want one.

Jumping around my lounge room to very loud rock & roll music is a favourite past time of mine and happily I have some more fuel for the fire with this honest to goodness rock & roll E.P from "Delta Riggs"

The Delta Riggs all-star band recorded the E.P live in Melbourne and included the talents of the following rock & roll bandits.

Elliott Hammond - Drums, Lead Vocals, Percussion
Alexander Markwell - Guitar, Vocals, Percussion
Simon McConnell - Drums, Percussion
Michael Tramonte - Bass, Vocals
Aaron Jackson - Guitar/Noise
Nicholas Futcher - Percussion, Congas, Vocals
Alexander Edwards - Hammond B3
Ian Peres - Upright Piano, Hammond B3
Ebony King - Vocals
Kathleen "Snowy" Snuball - Vocals
