Melbourne played host to one of the best music gatherings ever seen in this country last weekend, the Australian International Music Show.
AIMS gave music fans the opportunity to learn and discover music by seeing, hearing, listening and talking with the experts and touching and playing musical instruments.
Highlights of the Australian International Music Show were guitar workshops from guitar greats Bruce Kulick, Redd Volkaert and Robben Ford, the vocal workshop hosted by Kate Ceberano, a drum clinic by Michael Jackson’s drummer Jonathan Moffett, the vocal workshop by singing coach to the rock stars Jaime Vendera and up close and personal interviews by Greg Phillips with Dan Kelly, The Verses, Bertie Blackman, Paris Wells and Crystal Thomas.
The AIMS Trade Show featured displays from over 60 music companies.
The weekend ended with an all-star jam fronted by The Living End’s Chris Cheney.
AIMS was knocked around on Saturday by the Grand Final but was well attended on Sunday.
The Australian International Music Show can only get bigger. This first year may have been the “proof of concept year” but it was one of the best organised music events I have ever attended and greeting with enthusiasm from the attendees.
Bring it back for 2011, please.
