One of last year’s New Artist to Radio (NA2R) winners, Danielle Blakey, has won Gold in the inaugural ABU Radio Song Festival. Danielle was entered by Commercial Radio Australia and beat 14 other unsigned acts from around the Asia Pacific region to win the inaugural event.
The Australia Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Board has presented the $50,000 Red Ochre Award, Australia’s highest peer-assessed award for an Indigenous artist, to Western Aranda country musician Warren H Williams for his outstanding contribution to the Indigenous arts.
"Tinariwen’s management have confirmed that, unfortunately, only four out of the six musicians have been able to make it out of the region to Tamanrasset in Algeria for their onward flights,“ said Ian Scobie, WOMADelaide Director.
