Sydney's beloved 80's pop rockers Hoodoo Gurus plan their first US tour in twelve years.
A spokeswoman said the band was still working out their itinerary but intimated that the tour will revolve around the annual Austin, Texas music convention South By Southwest held in March 2007.Throughout the '80s Hoodoo Gurus were a hugely popular live act in Australia and scored hits with feelgood singles like 'What's My Scene', 'I Want You Back', 'Like Wow, Wipeout', 'Come Anytime' and many more. The band officially split in 1998 but have popped up intermittently for reunion shows, compilation and DVD releases and even played this year's NRL Grand Final as a nod to the League's use of a tweaked version of 'What's My Scene'.
Last year giants of Australian alternative music paid tribute to the band with the 'Stoneage Cameos' album featuring covers by The Living End, You Am I, Spiderbait, Rocket Science, Dallas Crane, Grinspoon, The Drones and more.
Hoodoo Gurus gained a solid following in the US by extensive touring, college radio airplay and even MTV. In 2005 they organised to release albums through San Franciscan label Virtual Recordings and are currently recording their first fresh album since 2004's comeback 'Mach Schau'.
