Australia's Favourite Albums Revealed

The use of psychedelic substances in Australia is set to come under renewed investigation after Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon' was voted the country's favourite album in an ABC television poll.

Around 100,000 people responded to the survey, with the 1973 concept album topping the list, just ahead of 'Grace', the 1994 album from the late Jeff Buckley. Radiohead's 1997 opus 'OK Computer' came in third, making it the most recently released album to make the top twenty, with The Beatles rounding out the top five with 'Abbey Road' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' respectively.

The highest ranking Australian album was Midnight Oil's '10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1', coming in at a disappointing 23. Silverchair's 'Diorama' followed at 24.

The top ten was rounded out by the usual suspects, with Nirvana's 'Nevermind' coming in at six, just ahead of Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album. Red Hot Chili Peppers' 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' ranked eighth, Meat Loaf's 'Bat Out Of Hell' ninth, whilst U2 made the top ten with 'The Joshua Tree'.
