Mariah Carey stole the show at the Palm Springs International Film Festival this week because of her drunken acceptance speech.
The singer admitted later that she may have had a little bit too much champagne before accepting her award for her role in ‘Precious’.The following night she said “a bit of bubbly” may have contributed to her condition.
‘Precious’ was funded by Oprah Winfrey. It is set in Harlem in 1987 and is the story of Claireece Precious Jones, a 16-year old African American girl born to a life no-one would want. She becomes pregnant for the second time by her father and spends all day looking after her mother.
Mariah Carey plays Mrs Weiss the welfare worker in the movie for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Award this week.
