Guy Sebastian `Angels Brought Me Here` was the biggest selling single of the past decade.
ARIA has released the Top 100 singles and albums chart of the past decade which put the Sebastian debut on top and surprisingly ahead of Anthony Callea ‘The Prayer’.The first two years of Australian Idol certainly had an impact on the sales for the first decade of the 21st Century with Shannon Noll ‘What About Me’ coming in at number 5 making three Idol artists in the Top 10.
Guy’s recent ‘Like It Like That’ single sold enough in the latter part of 2009 to come in at number 29.
The only other Idol act to make the top 10 wasn’t even a winner. The “Most Popular o the Unforgettables’ from the initial 2003 season had the 47th biggest hit of the decade with ‘These Kids’.
After 2004, the Idol impact dropped right away.
Other Australian’s in the Top 100 were Delta Goodrem ‘Born To Try’ (19), Gabriella Cilmi ‘Sweet About Me’ (28), Spiderbait ‘Black Betty’ (51), Kate Miller-Heidke ‘Last Day On Earth’ (57), Kylie Minogue ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ (58), Delta Goodrem ‘Lost Without You’ (69), The Veronicas ‘Untouched’ (79), Kasey Chambers ‘Not Pretty Enough’ (85), Silverchair ‘Straight Lines’ (86), TV Rock ‘Flaunt It’ (90).
