Before Steve Poltz was Steve Poltz he was in a band called The Rugburns. Well, the Rugburns are getting back together for one night only.
Poltzy will reform the band for his 50th birthday on February 19, 2010.To mark the occasion, he is having somewhat of a party to end all parties back home in San Diego.
The Rugburns played around San Diego in the late 90s. Then Steve wrote a little tune called ‘You Were Meant For Me’. It sold a few records for Jewel and next thing you know Australia became his Groundhog Day and he kept waking up here every 6 months.
The Poltz 50th in San Deigo sounds like a bit of fun. People from his past are sure to show up. Bushwalla will be there, and then there is that rare Rugburns gig you won’t want to miss.
As a newfound 50 year-old, next steps for Steve will be a few gigs at SXSW in Austin in March and across the year the release of three new albums, one of which he is recording in Perth next week with Malcolm Clark from The Sleepy Jackson.
