Pyramid Festival Attendees Want Their Money Back

446 fans who attended the Pyramid Rock Festival have joined a Facebook page to demand their money back.

Pyramid Rock was a complete wash-out on New Years Eve when a fierce electrical storm swept though Phillip Island outside Melbourne on New Years Eve.

The main acts Empire of the Sun, Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect and Van She could not go on after the storm hit at 9pm and according to people on the Facebook page, it wasn’t until around 2am that the shows were officially cancelled.

A statement from organiser yesterday read, “After almost three days of fun, good vibes and hot music, and with just three hours before New Year’s Eve 2009,?The Pyramid Rock Festival was hit by a severe electrical storm that ripped across Phillip Island.

“The west facing Main Stage of the festival bore the full force of the extreme Westerly that brought
fierce winds, heavy rain, lightning and thunder to the finale of the three day Phillip Island music festival.

“The Main Stage suffered major damage to vital lighting and effects systems that could not be restored in time to bring in?the New Year. All effort was made to reinstate the appropriate and acceptable standard of stage production levels to?the Main Stage area without success, prompting festival organisers arranging to re-locate the four remaining?main stage headline acts for the night from the Main Stage to the Pharaoh’s Annex tent.

“However with venue safety analysis ongoing, organisers and bands in conjunction with security and?emergency services personnel decided that moving the acts to the Pharaoh’s Annex would be unsafe”.

That hasn’t stopped the angry festival goers wanting their money back.

Festival goer Angus Morgan wrote about the mistakes.1”. Not planning for the storm, even though the weather bureau forecast it for a full week leading up to the event. NEGLIGENT.?2. Not making any announcement about what was going on. DISRESPECTFUL.?3. Playing inappropriate music for a NYE party while they tried to sort out the problem. UNCOOL.?4. Blaming the weather for their poor organisation, then trying to act like everyone got their money's worth because most of the acts still played. LAME.”

Ashlea Brayshaw posted “hey should have another festival with the empire and the others that missed out or give us free tickets for next year!”

Daniel Scott posted, “Pyramid needs new management, not only they couldn’t deliver on what they promised of the headline acts as the storm stopped at 10:30!!! the stupid woman stage manager also tried to cut faker mid song because he was climbing on one of the speakers. That’s what rock stars do to pump up the crown its called entertainment, yet she tried to cut him mid song but luckily none of the sound engineers listened to the woman. Anyone who was in the mosh pit for faker would have seen this”.

Despite the storm, in the final hours of the festival, festival goers did manager to get two gets of great weather and great bands before it all went to ruin.
