New Zealand film-maker Peter Jackson has been Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
Sir Peter Jackson, as he will now be known, was the man who brought the Lord of the Rings trilogy to the screen.His latest movie ‘The Lovely Bones’ premiered on December 26.
In a statement, Sir Peter said ''I didn't think anything would surpass the 2004 Academy Awards, but I was wrong. My parents, Bill and Joan Jackson, who gave me the most valuable gift of all, unqualified encouragement and unconditional support, would have been beside themselves with pride at this moment.''
Jackson recreated the epic King Kong in 2005 and his is working on a remake of the classic war movie The Dambusters.
Other upcoming projects include ‘The Adventures of Tintin’ in 2011, and a two-part movie based on the book ‘The Hobbit’. ‘The Hobbit Part 1’ will be released in 2011. Part 2 will come out in 2012.
