Susan Boyle has made Christmas for retail in Australia. Last week, `I Dreamed A Dream` sold a staggering 164,973 units pushing the Boyle album up over 400,000 sales or around 6 times platinum in Australia in just 4 weeks.
Compared to the same week last year, Boyle’s ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ was well ahead of Pink’s ‘Funhouse’, the number one album a year ago. ‘Funhouse’ sold 68,253 units this time last year across the Christmas week.Mind you, Pink ‘Funhouse’ was still selling this week, one year later. It was the number 8 album this week with 20,265 sales.
Pink also creamed the DVD chart this week selling a further 51,384 copies of the ‘Funhouse Tour: Live In Australia’ DVD.
Michael Buble was the other star performer in Australia this week. ‘Crazy Love’ sold 72,829 units this past week. Kings of Leon ‘Only By The Night’ was the number two album this time last year. It sold 61,595 units a year ago.
