Linkin Park are back in the studio and halfway through their fourth album with Rick Rubin taking the producer’s chair for the second time with the band.
In an interview with Spin, Mike Shinoda said “Rick Rubin is producing [the album]. I'd say we're about halfway done. I'm really happy with what we have so far. We're having a ton of fun in the studio. We really want to do something special and unique for the next record ? we want to redefine the band.”He says the album will be more electronic orientated, and will have a “keyboard and drum machine kind of feel”.
Recently the band released an album of demos to their fan club.
“Songs change constantly over the course of the creative process, so we thought it'd be cool to share early versions of familiar tracks,” Mike Shinoda said on lpunderground.com. “The versions in this collection represent important moments in the evolution of each song: different vocals, music variations, and missing parts. They're snapshots of our works-in-progress.”
Their fourth album will be out next year.
