Fear Factory have often evoked a science fiction theme in their videos, but for ‘Fear Campaign’ they have collapsed into reality.
“It was not necessary to camouflage the insanity of the world of today within a science fiction setting like we have done in the past,” singer Burton C. Bell said in a press release. “The world today has become the world that writers predicted long ago. àThe controlling authorities are constantly, and successfully, utilizing fear tactics to control the masses. àFear is control.”In moving into this world, the band felt it necessary to have a regular video showing “the future” as the world around us today.
“What excites us about this song is the building and releasing of energy,” Director Ian McFarland said in a statement. “We are planning to present a visual overload of images that will keep the viewer glued to the screen. àThe hope is to dissect the word “fear” and to make a piece of art that will not only capture the power of the song and but the true intensity of Fear Factory.”
