R&B superstar Alicia Keys appeared on the Colbert Report last night and even had a taste of the comedian’s singing during her performance.
Stephen Colbert appeared in a black hoodie performing his own rap during Keys’ performance of ‘Empire State Of Mine Pt II’ - a stripped down version of Jay-Z’s ‘Empire State Of Mind’, which featured Keys on his latest record.“The empire state of mind is what really draws people into the song,” she said during an interview with Colbert. “And that’s the feeling that anything is possible and that’s the feeling that you get when you’re in New York. In a way it’s the element of freedom.”
“This song is the [city’s] greatest hit. It’s going to take over ‘New York, New York’, you can take that and throw it in the trash,” Colbert said.
