Courtney Love has lost custody of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.
TMZ has reported that at a court appearance last Friday, custody of the 17 year old girl has gone to Wendy O’Connor and Kimberly Dawn Cobain (Kurt Cobain’s mother and sister respectively).O’Connor and Cobain are now responsible for the daughter personally, and her financial well being, although they do not control a trust Love set up for Bean after Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994.
Love’s attourney Keith Fink told TMZ “Courtney wants to say she loves her daughter and she's the most important thing in her life,” and that Love knows Bean will be looked after.
Frances Bean Cobain was born on August 18, 1992 to Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. Her father had committed suicide on April 5, 1994.
Love was the lead singer of the band Hole from 1989 - 2002. She had one solo album, ‘America’s Sweetheart’ in 2004 and her second album ‘Nobody’s Daughter’ is expected to see the light of day in January 2010 after having been shelved since 2007.
