X-Factor judge Simon Cowell has spoken out about the facebook group aimed at getting Rage Against The Machine’s 1992 track ‘Killing In The Name’ to the number one spot over Christmas.
Speaking to The Guardian, Cowell said “If there's a campaign, and I think the campaign's aimed directly at me, it's stupid. Me having a No 1 record at Christmas is not going to change my life particularly," Cowell said. "I think it's quite a cynical campaign geared at me that is actually going to spoil the party for these three.”The campaign was kicked off by Jon and Tracy Morter, who’s facebook group “RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR CHRISTMAS NO.1” aims to rally enough people together to buy the hit from this Sunday to knock whoever the winner of X-Factor is off the top spot.
At time of publication, the Pro-RATM group has 590,436 members, while the biggest pro X-Factory page I could find currently has a staggering 31.
I dare say this campaign is stupid, but not as stupid as X-Factor, so bring it on.
