Producer Rich Harrison has been enlisted for 50 Cent's next album promising some Motown soul.
50 Cent's follow-up to the 2005 multi-platinum smash 'The Massacre', dubbed 'Before I Self-Destruct' is slated for an early 2007 release. MTV reports that he has enlisted Grammy-winning producer Rich Harrison, who has worked with Mary J Blige, Amerie and Usher, winning his Grammy for Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love' and worked on the 'B'Day' album.Speaking to MTV, Harrison seemed enthused to work with the bullet-ridden thug, "I'd [wanted] to do some more hip-hop stuff, but someone's got to trust it. Someone's got to believe." Afterwards working with the newly soulful Fiddy, he'll write for Usher again and Missy Elliott.
The hip-hop star has recently been quoted as saying, "I want the music to sound like something I haven't done before so I needed to change the guys I worked with on the last project." He admitted to returning to black music's roots. "I've been listening to a lot of Motown stuff - Smokey Robinson - a lot of older music, so I got a lot of soulful loops. I took material from some old, old records and recreated them."
