Alexa Ray Joel, the 23-year old daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, has left hospital after her suicide attempt on the weekend.
Billy Joel has taken his daughter to an undisclosed location to rest.In a statement Alexa said, "I want to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support."
The singer took an overdose of the drug Traumeel on Saturday and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital near her home in the West Village after her room-mate called 911
Her scheduled appearance at the New York Stock Exchange’s 86th annual tree lighting ceremony this Thursday has been cancelled.
Alexa Ray’s musical education began when she attended the Berklee School of Music when she was 17-years old. After that, she pursued a career as a singer/songwriter.
In 2006, she released the 6-song EP ‘Sketches’. Joel wrote ‘Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)’ from his River of Dreams album about Alexa. He also wrote the song ‘The Downeaster Alexa’, a song that shares her name.
