Rapper Lil Wayne is the latest victim of a celebrity hoax. Stories, faked to have originated from the BBC, swept the internet today claiming Lil Wayne had been murdered.
The story began Sunday at 3pm New York time. Lil Wayne apparently left a gig and was murdered by a rival gang.The incorrect news of the death of Lil Wayne travelled so fast that it became the most searched for story on Google and a trending topic on Twitter within moments of it breaking.
This isn’t the first time Lil Wayne has been killed off online. In November 2008 he was also murdered. In fact, according to internet reports over the years Lil Wayne has died in a plane crash, a car crash and from gun shot wounds.
Once again, fans can be reassured that Lil Wayne is still alive and well and will release his first rock album ‘Rebirth’ next week.
