The world famous and influential Roskilde Festival in the town of Roskilde, Denmark has decided to cut prices for their 2010 tickets.
The price will drop ¬15 from 2009 down to ¬225, which flies in the face of rising ticket prices everywhere."In recent years we have been pressured by price increases on especially live music, which has affected our ticket price,” Managing Director Henrik Rasmussen said in a statement. “Yet, we want to make sure that young people with a limited income can also afford having fun at Roskilde Festival. This goes, not least, for people from our neighbouring countries that are more afflicted by price increases. We have therefore decided for the coming festival season to lower the price. This is possible by tough prioritizing in our budgeting.”
The news is exciting in a time when festivals are selling out before lineups are even announced. Roskilde remains ahead of the innovation curve once again!
Artists that have played at the festival before include Neil Young, Robbie Williams, Metallica, Bjork, The Cure, Tool, Willie Nelson, The Flaming Lips, Jay-Z, Radiohead and many many more.
The festival has been running since 1971.
