Soupy Sales was farewelled by America last week.
The legendary comic and actor Soupy Sales died in New York at the age of 83.Sales show had a never-ending parade of the rock stars of the day, including a 1979 appearance from Alice Cooper. In a statement following Soupy Sales` death, Alice Cooper said, "Being from Detroit, I came home everyday and watched Soupy at lunch. One of the greatest moments of my life was getting pie-faced by Soupy. He was one of my all time heroes."
Sales was well connected to music. His sons Tony and Hunt sales were the backbone of David Bowie’s band Tim Machine.
Frank Sinatra was a big Soupy Sales fan. He signed him to his Reprise label. Sales recorded two albums for Sinatra in 1961 and 1962.
He later signed to Motown Records and released the comedy single ‘Muck-Arty Park’, a send-up of MacArthur Park.
